The Dallas Cowboys are dealing with an offensive line crisis that has forced them to look for solutions.
A wave of training camp injuries has depleted their depth chart, creating an urgent need for experienced reinforcements as the regular season approaches.
So, the team will bring in a familiar face for a workout.
“The Cowboys will work out veteran OL La’el Collins on Friday, according to sources. Collins started 71 of 74 games in three different stints with the Cowboys, including a practice squad slot at the end of ’23. He did not play last year following his release from Buffalo,” Todd Archer of ESPN wrote on X.

The timing reflects the severity of Dallas’ current situation, with four offensive linemen getting injured.
Tyler Guyton is dealing with a knee issue, and Rob Jones has a neck injury. Matt Waletzko is nursing an ankle problem, and Hakeem Adeniji is in concussion protocol.
Tyler Smith added to the concerns when he left practice early with knee soreness.
Collins represents a known commodity for the organization. He played seven seasons for Dallas after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2015.
His tenure ended in 2022 when the Cowboys released him with three years remaining on his contract.
Collins signed with the Cincinnati Bengals and suffered a torn ACL and MCL late in the season.
Since then, he has bounced between practice squads, including a brief stint with Buffalo and a return to Dallas in 2024.
If Collins passes his physical and shows he can contribute, he could earn a practice squad spot while working into game shape.
