Cowboys lasso Tigers in MPBL

The Ilagan Isabela Cowboys rebounded with an 86-73 victory over the Davao Occidental Tigers on Saturday in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League at Villar Coliseum in Las Piñas City.

Led by Mark Dyke, the Cowboys fended off the Tigers’ final rally by bunching 10 points that sealed their 12th win against nine losses, erasing the stigma of a 79-87 defeat dealt to them by the San Juan Knights on July 26 in Zamboanga City.

Dyke, a 6-foot-3 forward out of La Salle, posted 20 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists to clinch best player honors. Donald Gumaru added 17 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists, while Arth Dela Cruz flirted with a triple-double, piling up 11 points, 11 assists, nine rebounds and three steals.

Davao tumbled to 8-12 (win-loss) despite the 24-point, 11-rebound, effort of Keith Agovida.
