The Los Angeles Rams have a long history of finding value in the later rounds of the NFL Draft.
This front office and scouting department have done an incredible job of finding and developing young stars.
They did so with guys like Puka Nacua and Kyren Williams, and they could do the same now with Konata Mumpfield.
The seventh-round wide receiver out of Pittsburgh has turned some heads in training camp, and it looks like he’s already caught Sean McVay’s eye:
“He’s doing a great job. You see him making a lot of plays. He’s a mature rookie. He’s moving around, can do a lot of different things. He’s one of the guys that has really shined,” McVay said of Mumpfield.

Standing at 5-foot-11 and just 186 pounds, the former Panthers standout clearly isn’t the most physical specimen out there, and his 4.59-second time in the 40-yard dash didn’t do much to help his case, either.
Even so, he has shown an impressive ability to create separation with an array of savvy moves and strong footwork.
Of course, it’s way too early to talk about him as a potential steal, and he might not even make the 53-man roster.
Also, newcomer Davante Adams and Nacua will most likely handle the bulk of the work in the passing game.
Still, we’ve seen this team strike gold in Day 3 of the NFL Draft way too many times in the past, and they will be a force to be reckoned with for as long as Sean McVay is calling the shots.
Mumpfield won’t impress with his athleticism, size, or speed, but if Sean McVay likes what he sees, the rest of the league had better pay attention and keep an eye on him.
