Adam Schefter Reveals Injury Update On Matthew Stafford

The Los Angeles Rams could have a big problem on their hands.

Matthew Stafford‘s health has been a major concern for the past couple of years, and the quarterback is currently sidelined.

Stafford is reportedly week to week with a back injury, possibly making him doubtful for Week 1.

Nevertheless, the Rams might not be that worried about him.

“He still hasn’t practiced in training camp but the Rams do not sound concerned. This sounds more like a maintenance issue where they’re being smart with their 37-year-old QB who they feel like doesn’t need the work necessarily right now. And they feel like if there were a game today, Stafford would be able to play,” ESPN insider Adam Schefter said, via Underdog NFL.

Stafford is one of the toughest and grittiest players in the league.

He often played through injury, even when the Detroit Lions or Rams had no chance to compete at a high level.

Now, his body may not respond the same way.

Yet, it’s not like he needs a lot of time to get game-ready.

He’s familiar with the offense and most of his weapons, and he’s a proven veteran with more than a decade of experience.

The Rams are a possible Super Bowl contender and should be near the top of the NFC West.

That could change if Stafford can’t play, or doesn’t play up to his usual standard.

In the meantime, backup Jimmy Garoppolo will most likely get the first-team reps until Stafford can return.
