The New York Jets were quick to sign quarterback Justin Fields early in the offseason.
They gave him a two-year contract and promised to build the offense around him.
However, the early returns haven’t been great.
According to insider Connor Hughes, Fields’ struggles as a passer continue.
In three practices, he’s completed 2 of 10, 4 of 16, and 2 of 6 passes with one interception, via Underdog.

Fields has never been the most accurate passer, and it always takes some time to adjust to a new offense, but this is worrisome nonetheless, even if it’s just training camp.
He doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt anymore because of his history of struggles in the pocket.
He’s a gifted athlete and one of the most dangerous quarterbacks when he rolls out or takes off with his legs, but that’s not the case when he’s asked to make plays with his arm.
From floating passes to failing to read coverage, Fields has failed to improve in the most important aspects of the game.
He’s still relatively young and has the physical tools to be a difference-maker.
It’s also worth noting that he has never been in an offense built around his strengths.
But after watching him struggle with the Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers, he will need to get his act together, or this might be the end of the line for him.
