Archie Manning claims grandson Arch will not declare for 2026 NFL Draft

Everything is bigger in Texas, and for the Manning family, that might also include football opportunities.

Former NFL quarterback Archie Manning claimed his grandson Arch Manning will remain with the Texas Longhorns past this season, according to his interview with a Texas-based magazine.

Archie’s claims has the football community reeling at the possibility of Arch not declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft.

“Arch isn’t going to do that,” Archie said to Texas Monthly, a publication based in Austin, Texas. “He’ll be at Texas.”

The 21-year-old is expected to start at quarterback for the Longhorns in their regular-season opener and College Football Playoff rematch against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Aug. 30. The Longhorns lost to the Buckeyes 28-14 in last year’s playoff semifinal.

This is Arch’s first time listed as QB1 to begin a college season.

Arch served as a backup for most of the 2024-25 season until an injury sidelined starter Quinn Ewers. Arch completed 67.8 per cent of his passes while throwing for nine touchdowns and 939 yards in the two games he started and won for the Longhorns.

Arch, nephew of Super Bowl champion quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning, was a well-documented prospect during the 2022 recruitment season. After breaking Eli’s career passing yards record at Isidore Newman School, Arch visited with numerous universities, including top programs at Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and LSU.

He also visited Ole Miss, where his grandfather and both uncles played college football.
