The Cincinnati Bengals have big decisions to make this offseason on the contracts of Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, their two main weapons at the wide receiver position.
Chase has one year remaining on his current contract, while Higgins is set to become a free agent next month when the new NFL league year begins.
Many feel Higgins is as good as gone, but Chase is almost certainly going to remain in Cincinnati, and Fox Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz feels Chase will not accept any contract that will pay him under $40 million a year.
I can’t see Ja’Marr Chase accepting a deal worth less than $40 million per year… This is the downside of the #Bengals not getting it done last year. https://t.co/miC1U9jLVP

Chase has been looking for an extension dating back to last offseason, and he staged a hold-in during training camp last summer in the hopes of getting one.
He had an exceptional season in which he led the NFL with 127 receptions, 1,708 receiving yards and 17 receiving touchdowns, and he earned his fourth Pro Bowl selection in as many seasons in the league.
At age 24, he may still have room for improvement.
Unfortunately, Chase’s prolific production didn’t result in team success this season — they started 0-3, and despite getting hot down the stretch, they won only nine games and missed the playoffs for the second straight year.
It was just three years ago when they became the last team to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC playoffs and narrowly lost in the Super Bowl to the Los Angeles Rams.
In order for them to resume having that type of success, they will not only have to get Chase signed to a reasonable contract but also address some of their roster needs, especially on defense.
