Robert Griffin III Names Which Team Should Have Drafted Shedeur Sanders

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders was in the conversation to be the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft for months, at least until the pre-draft process got fully underway and teams started dissecting his game and scheduling in-person interviews with him.

His fall all the way to the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the draft over the weekend was unprecedented, and former No. 2 overall pick Robert Griffin III shared on X which team he believes should have been the one to take him.

RGIII shared a clip from his podcast on X and said he believes the New Orleans Saints were wrong for drafting Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough in the second round over Shedeur Sanders.

“Jax Ulbrich was completely wrong for helping prank call Shedeur Sanders when the New Orleans Saints were on the clock. Wasn’t funny. At All. It shouldn’t have been a prank because the Saints shouldn’t have drafted Tyler Shough over Shedeur Sanders.”

Saying the Saints should have drafted Sanders over Shough is a strong take considering Sanders went three rounds later, but it’s a tough time for the media as everyone is coming to terms with the fact that their pre-draft projections for Sanders could not have been more inaccurate and unaligned when compared to the assessments of every team in the NFL.

New Orleans was rumored to be one of the teams in the mix to take Sanders with the No. 9 overall pick, but after Sanders fell to round two, the Saints went with the 25-year-old Shough instead.

Shough has had a ton of injuries throughout his college career, but he has a strong arm and projects well at the next level from an athletic perspective as long as he can stay healthy.

It’s tough to call out any team for passing on Sanders at this point since every team passed on him multiple times.

It is now up to Sanders to prove everybody wrong.
