MANILA, Philippines — Apart from enjoying various Filipino delicacies, San Antonio Spurs rising star Jeremy Sochan also found catching the NBA playoffs in the morning a “little interesting” during his six-day stay in the Philippines.

The Polish-American forward was born in Oklahoma but was raised in England. In a post on X, Sochan spoke about experiencing watching NBA games in a different time zone.

“[I’m] in the Philippines and you think I would wake up for this game!? Didn’t even need an alarm.😂,” Sochan wrote.

“Growing up in Europe, you would always watch games at like 12 am, 2 am, 3 am. But here it’s at like 7 am and 9 am.  So it was a little interesting,” Sochan told reporters in the NBA Rising Stars Invitational Philippine Qualifiers on Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum. “It was tough at times because that’s when I was working out. So I had to adjust to it. But yeah, it’s pretty fun.”

As far as his playoff predictions go, Sochan sees the winner of the Boston-New York series making the NBA Finals in the Eastern Conference while he picks either Golden State or Denver coming out in the West.

For the first time in NBA playoff history, road teams opened the conference semifinals at 4-0.

“I truly am not 100 percent [sure]. These playoffs have been crazy.  A lot of upsets. I don’t know. I think every team that’s in the playoffs right now has a really good chance,” said Sochan, whose Spurs finished 13th in the West.

“We’ll see. Boston still has a chance. From that series, I think one of them is making it to the finals.”

The defending champion Celtics trail the Knicks, 2-1, in their best-of-seven matchup with Game 4 in New York set Tuesday (Manila time).  In the other bracket in the East, Indiana is on the verge of a massive upset with a commanding 3-1 advantage over top seed Cleveland.

In the West, Minnesota has gained control of its series against Golden State with Warriors star Steph Curry sidelined with a hamstring injury he sustained in Game 2. Meanwhile, No. 1 Oklahoma City and Denver are knotted up after four games.

“I have a feeling it’s Denver or the Warriors who will make it to the finals, too. We’ll see,” he said. “I think the OKC-Denver Nuggets, that’s going to be a crazy series. Game 3 was crazy. I’m excited for that.”
