The Indiana Pacers are about to battle against the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals, and it might be one of the most heated and intense fights the league has seen in years.
Several players are going to make life very hard for their opponents, including Mitchell Robinson of the Knicks.
According to New York Basketball, Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle knows just how dangerous Robinson will be, and he is helping his team prepare for him.
“[Mitchell Robinson’s] productivity as a rebounder is really quite remarkable,” Carlisle said. “I think he’s getting four offensive rebounds a game, and he’s tipping the ball out another three or four times, so, in some games, he’s generating seven or eight extra possessions for them. He’s a major factor.”
Rick Carlisle on Mitchell Robinson: “His productivity as a rebounder is really quite remarkable…4 offensive rebounds & tips out another 3-4…7-8 extra possessions. Major factor. Robinson averaged 5.1 points and 5.9 rebounds this season but only played in 17 games due to an injury.
During the playoffs, he has put up 4.2 points and 6.8 rebounds.
One of the reasons the Pacers were able to get past the Boston Celtics in the last round was because they were able to penetrate the paint and get through the defense.
That might not be as easy with Robinson.
His rebounding is one of his strongest features, and he will work hard to find ways to help his team score and keep possession of the ball.
The Pacers are so feared because they are aggressive, relentless, and fast.
They will have to step it all up a notch against the Knicks, and Robinson is a clear example of why.
He isn’t the only threat waiting for the Pacers, but he is definitely someone to keep an eye on.
