MANILA, Philippines — Something significant was happening off the court for Scottie Thompson even as Ginebra battled Blackwater in a tight PBA Philippine Cup clash at Philsports Arena on Friday.

Immediately after Japeth Aguilar’ game-winner, Thompson ran out of the Pasig complex and into his car to visit his wife, Jinky, who was in labor.
“She’s (Jinky) delivering as we speak. They didn’t tell him (Scottie) during the game, they waited until the game was over,” revealed coach Tim Cone.
Cone described how quickly Thompson left.
“He literally went from here to there, then left and into his car,” Cone said, motioning from the court to the exit.
The Thompsons are expecting their third child, who will join Scot Alystair and Schyler Austin. The couple opted not to know the baby’s gender until birth.
Before heading out to fatherhood duties, Thompson dropped a double-double of 18 points and 10 assists to help the Gin Kings improve to 5-2.
