AJ Styles accepts challenge for first-time-ever WWE match

WWE Superstar AJ Styles accepted a challenge for a first-ever match today on social media. The veteran is currently on the WWE RAW roster and has his sights set on Dominik Mysterio’s Intercontinental Championship.

WWE ID prospect Sean Legacy was recently interviewed by The Wrestling Classic and revealed that Styles was his dream opponent. He noted that they had similar moves and that he would love the opportunity to face the former champion.

“AJ Styles in a heartbeat, man. Listen, dude, he’s from Georgia, I’m from Georgia. He’s a Bulldog fan, I’m a Bulldog fan. I do some similar stuff, he does similar stuff, man. I don’t care how long the match is, dude, I would love to wrestle AJ Styles,” he said. [from 0:05 – 0:21]

The Phenomenal One reacted to Sean Legacy’s challenge with a one-word message, and you can check it out in the post below.

“Bet!” wrote Styles.

Styles competed in a Money in the Bank qualifying match against El Grande Americano and CM Punk this past Monday night on the red brand. El Grande Americano picked up the victory and will be competing in the Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match at the PLE later tonight.

Wrestling insider comments on WWE’s plans for AJ Styles

WrestleVotes recently discussed the company’s plans for AJ Styles moving forward on RAW.

Speaking on WrestleVotes Q&A on Sportskeeda WrestleBinge, the insider noted that Styles could be challenging for a title soon. Legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter stated that he could see Styles challenging Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship in the weeks ahead.

WrestleVotes agreed with Apter but noted that Finn Balor would likely be challenging Dirty Dom for the title first. Mysterio pinned Balor in a Fatal 4-Way match at WrestleMania 41 to capture the Intercontinental Championship.

“I could see the match happening in the future. I think it’ll be Dom vs. Finn [Balor] first, so after that, yeah,” he said. [From 15:12 onwards]
