Adam Schefter Reveals Big Update About Bills RB

With the 2025 NFL season just around the corner, the Buffalo Bills and one of their most important players aren’t on the same page.

James Cook is still pushing to get a contract extension, but it doesn’t seem like that will happen anytime soon.

As a result, the young running back has taken things to the next level.

According to a report by ESPN insider Adam Schefter (via SleeperBills), Cook has now gone from ‘unhappy’ to ‘disconnected’ with the team because of the ongoing contract dispute:

“He has basically disconnected himself from the organization and the city put his house up for sale,” per Schefter. “I don’t think we’ll be seeing him in Buffalo anytime soon.”

Moreover, he’s even put his home in Buffalo up for sale to prove that he’s for real.

Earlier in the offseason, he claimed that he wanted to get what he deserved, and he also said on Instagram that he’s looking to get $15 million a season.

Bills GM Brandon Beane has repeatedly talked about Cook’s importance for the offense, but that hasn’t led to any significant progress in contract extension talks.

Cook led the team in rushing yards last season, posting 1,009 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.

He was tied with Jahmyr Gibbs and Derrick Henry for the most rushing touchdowns in the league last season, and he also added 32 receptions for 258 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Cook was Josh Allen’s biggest contributor during his MVP campaign, and for the first time in years, the Bills finally had some offensive balance instead of running their usual pass-heavy offense.

The start of the season looms large, and unless the Bills improve their current offer, we might not see Cook take the field in 2025.
