MANILA, Philippines — Filipino-Americans Tia Andaya and MJ Phillips are inching closer to their federation transfer from USA Volleyball to the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF).

PNVF and Asian Volleyball Confederation president Tats Suzara revealed that he had already signed the documents of Andaya and Phillips, waiting for the FIVB’s approval to transfer their rights to play for Alas Pilipinas.

“We’re processing now Tia Andaya and MJ Phillips’ change of federation, so I signed the papers already. It will be forwarded to FIVB with some additional documents like barangay certificate, etc. Hopefully, it will be approved by FIVB and then they can play already,” said Suzara after a press conference for the Alas men’s Invitationals at Novotel on Monday.

Andaya and Phillips are currently training with Alas since the national team period began and they are reportedly playing in the VTV Cup this month in Vietnam.

Andaya was drafted by Choco Mucho in the PVL Rookie Draft on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, PVL Season MVP Brooke Van Sickle’s documents are still in the process of completion, according to Suzara.

“Brooke’s, I have not signed the document. I don’t know if she has accomplished the form but I signed MJ Phillips and Tia Andaya’s at the moment. I hope Brooke can submit this. It’s a matter of completing the form because USA Volleyball signs the form so easily,” said Suzara.

Suzara, also the FIVB Executive Vice President, said Van Sickle is really willing to play for the country, it’s just about completing her requirements as they can process her federation transfer anytime.

“The executive committee, which I am a part of it, can approve anytime any request for change of federations. In fact, two days ago, I approved five changes of federation,” he said.
