Lauri Markkanen has been a vital part of the Utah Jazz since coming to the team in 2022-23.
For a time, it seemed like he was untouchable and the front office would never move him.
Has that position softened after multiple seasons of disappointment for Utah?
According to Bill Simmons, per NBACentral, there is “belief around the league” that the Jazz are “open” to listening to trade offers for Markkanen.
If that’s true, it could shake up this offseason in a huge way.

Last season, Markkanen put up 19.0 points and 5.9 rebounds for his Jazz.
He was only in 47 games and didn’t get as much attention as in previous seasons, partly because the Jazz were so dreadful.
There is no doubt that Markkanen is a talented young player who could make a huge difference for a bunch of teams.
Because of that, the Jazz will not go easy in any potential trade negotiations.
They have repeatedly shown that they drive a hard bargain, and they will stick to their demands.
Any team that wants Markkanen will have to work for him, and there is no guarantee that the Jazz will agree to anything.
They have the upper hand, and they will wait for the right deal.
Teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors have had their eyes on Markkanen for years.
Will this summer be their best chance at acquiring him, and what will it cost them?
How real is this rumor from Simmons?
Will other teams pick up the phone and find out?
The Jazz have held tightly to Markkanen for several years, but they might be willing to let go, for the right price.
