Two days after John Gibson was injured, the Anaheim Ducks are adding some goalie depth.

Gibson, 31, left Saturday’s contest with an upper-body injury, though Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that it “doesn’t sound like Gibson’s injury is a problem.”

The lifelong Duck has also been involved in trade rumours and was recently included on Nick Kypreos’ trade board. The trade deadline is March 7.

Husso, 30, was acquired by Detroit from St. Louis in 2022 and immediately signed a three-year contract worth $4.75 million annually that expires in the upcoming off-season.

But the Finn’s Red Wings tenure hasn’t gone as planned. After playing 56 games during his first season in Detroit, Husso appeared in just 19 last year and has yet to replicate the success he enjoyed in his final season in St. Louis.

In only nine games during the current campaign, Husso has an .866 save percentage and 3.69 goals-against average. However, he has shown some form in the AHL with a .912 save percentage and 2.70 GAA in 13 games with Grand Rapids.

The Ducks said Husso would report to their AHL affiliate in San Diego.
