Elite 2028 recruit Eric McFarland lands ‘dream school’ offer from LSU

It was another banner week for class of 2028 football recruit Eric McFarland.

The Bradenton (Fa.) IMG Academy star took home MVP at Justin Jefferson‘s ‘Flight School’ camp last weekend and rolled out a pair of major scholarship offers days later, from Michigan and LSU.

The Tiger tender was received with different weight, as the freshman has long labeled the SEC program as the offer he coveted the most for well over a year.

It just so happens to be Jefferson’s alma mater, too.

“It’s my dream school,” McFarland told Rivals. “You know it feels great because it has always been my dream school and for them to see me and actually see me being a wide receiver at that prestigious school is a blessing!”

Cortez Hankton, the LSU wide receivers coach, was able to deliver the news to the newest Tiger target.

“They talked to me and then offered me,” McFarland said. “They said I needed to get up there and check everything out…

“Yea I am figuring out a date.”

The versatile athlete, who was IMG’s leading receiver in 2024 as a freshman, has a national offer list to his name and remains in no rush to make a decision.

Instead, McFarland is working on gathering impressions of colleges early on. LSU will soon get him on campus but the next trip on the schedule is a return trio to Ohio State on Monday.

Naturally, back in March of 2024 upon an initial interview with Rivals, LSU represented a pair of players the young wideout models his game after.

“I play my game like a mixture of Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson and Tyreek Hill,” McFarland said last spring.

Just before that, the then rising-freshman said he had a vision for his career at the next level, too.

“I want to be attending LSU,” he said.

McFarland now admits to being open with the recruiting process itself, with no plans on making an early commitment.
