The Golden State Warriors faced a slew of problems in 2024-25, and they would like to get better by next season.
That means some changes could be coming, including a few to the roster.
In a new piece, Jake Fischer talked about Bobby Portis, someone the Warriors could pick up during free agency.
“Team executives expect Portis to have numerous potential landing spots in the midlevel market as well, although Milwaukee would like to bring back the 30-year-old forward, sources say,” Fischer wrote in his latest column. “Golden State has always been a team to monitor for Portis, who has a notable fan in head coach Steve Kerr from their shared days during the 2023 FIBA World Cup competition with USA Basketball.”
Portis averaged 13.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on 46.6 percent from the field last season for the Milwaukee Bucks.
He has been in the league for nine years with a career average of 12.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists.
Portis is the sort of proven veteran who could bring a lot to the Warriors, and they might be more interested in adding him after the Jimmy Butler acquisition.
Some people doubted the addition of Butler, but he ended up being a huge help for the team and is a perfect fit.
Would Portis be a continuation of that, and is he just what the Warriors need?
It is important to note that Fischer said the Bucks would love to keep Portis, so they will attempt to keep him in Milwaukee.
But if he does leave, fans should keep a close eye on the Warriors, because they might jump at the chance to use his skills, experience, and expertise.
