LeBron James has a reputation as one of the most intelligent players in NBA history.
He can dissect opposing teams’ plays in real time, up to the point where he’s given players indications about where they’re supposed to go and what they’re supposed to do.
He’s also famously ignored his coaches’ instructions to set up his own plays at times.
That kind of basketball brain would be perfectly suited for a coach.
However, that’s not something on James’ to-do list.
Asked whether he would ever consider coaching, James shut down the notion right away, via ClutchPoints.
“There’s no way,” James said. “There’s no way, guys. I appreciate you for the kind question, but it ain’t happening. No team. Zero chance.”

James was on his podcast with Steve Nash, who knows just how much coaching can take a toll on a player’s legacy.
They go from heroes to villains, and James has always cared about his public image and media scrutiny.
That’s why, despite his reputation for influencing a front office, he’s not likely to take an executive job at any point, either.
He’s been quite vocal about his desire to stay connected to the game by becoming an owner.
Some will argue that it would be a shame to watch such a great basketball mind go to waste.
But James has done everything someone can do in the NBA as a player, and unless he’s serving as a player-coach, which he’s unofficially done in the past, continuing in a new role doesn’t seem likely to happen.
