Aaron Rodgers has drawn a line in the sand regarding his NFL future.
The 41-year-old quarterback made it clear that 2025 represents his final chapter after two decades in the league.
Rather than chase another lengthy contract, Rodgers chose a different path with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The four-time MVP signed a one-year deal, prioritizing simplicity over security.
During a recent appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers opened up about his decision and mindset entering what he believes will be his farewell season.
“That’s why we just did a one-year deal — Steelers didn’t need to put any extra years on that or anything,” Rodgers said. “This was really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I’ve had.”
“I’m pretty sure this is my last season and that’s why we did the one year deal..
I’ve played twenty years and I’ve enjoyed it..
There’s no better way to finish it than with Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers” @AaronRodgers12 #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/hWN5veErEH

The announcement sparked immediate reactions across social media. Fans expressed mixed emotions about watching another legendary quarterback prepare for retirement.
One fan wrote, “One heck of a run!” while another added, “Sounds like a great way to end.”
Not every response carried the same sentiment. One fan wrote, “Men NFL sucks we are losing all the great goat players every year from 2007 to present NFL won’t be same without NFL goats the OG players.”
Others questioned Rodgers’ timing and approach. “If a question takes 40 seconds to ask. It’s not a question,” one critic wrote.
Another added, “Rodgers wants a goodbye tour. Least shocking thing ever.”
Some fans welcomed the clarity his decision provides. “Thank god, next offseason we won’t have to sit through the ‘will Aaron Rodgers retire?’ news cycle that happens every offseason,” one wrote.
Rodgers enters his 21st season with his third different franchise. The Green Bay Packers drafted him in 2005, where he spent 18 seasons building his Hall of Fame resume.
A 2023 trade sent him to the New York Jets for two tumultuous seasons before free agency landed him in Pittsburgh.
The Pittsburgh Steelers open their season with a Week 1 matchup against the Jets at MetLife Stadium, setting up a compelling storyline for what Rodgers considers his final run.
