The 2025 NBA Draft has officially wrapped up.
Some of the picks throughout this event were met with controversy and surprise, but most teams seemed to be happy with the players they selected.
The Dallas Mavericks, the winners of the lottery and the recipients of the No. 1 overall pick, got their wish and were able to select Cooper Flagg.
Flagg is one of the most prolific prospects of the past decade, a player who is expected to make an immediate impact when he reaches the NBA.
Expectations are sky-high for Flagg, and it’s not just from Mavericks fans and NBA analysts.
The betting markets are already projecting the Mavericks’ rookie to win Rookie of the Year, and at this point, the odds aren’t particularly close.
As “The Athletic” noted on X via BETMGM, Flagg is currently a -225 favorite to take home this award.
Cooper Flagg is favored to win NBA Rookie of the Year, per @BetMGM, showing just how obvious of a pick he appears to be at this time.

To put things into perspective, Dylan Harper, the No. 2 overall pick from the San Antonio Spurs, ranks fourth on this list, currently holding odds of +1100.
The Spurs have had back-to-back Rookies of the Year, but it’s not only unlikely that they’ll have three in a row, but it seems nearly impossible at this point, given the odds.
These odds will shift as the season approaches and as we see all of these athletes compete against NBA competition, but Flagg seems to be in a tier of his own leading up to that point.
He trained against the United States’ Olympic team for a reason, and if the hype is real, the Mavericks could be title contenders sooner rather than later.
