MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala battles defending champion Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic in her Wimbledon main draw debut on Wednesday in London.
Eala, making her second women’s Grand Slam debut this year, was drawn against the World No. 17 Krejcikova.

The 20-year-old Eala, who made waves in the 2025 Miami Open to earn outright berths in the Grand Slam main draws, is appearing in her first match at the main draw of Wimbledon, a year after falling short in her final qualifying game against Lulu Sun, 6-7, 5-7.
The Filipino tennis sensation debuted in the French Open on May 25 but fell to Emiliana Arango in three sets in the first round.
But Wimbledon will have to wait as Eala eyes her first-ever Women’s Tennis Association championship as a pro against Australia’s Maya Joint on Saturday evening at the Eastbourne Open final.

Interestingly, Eala had a chance to face Krejcikova in the Eastbourne semifinal, but the latter withdrew in the quarterfinal due to an injury.
Eala stood her ground against gritty French Varvara Gracheva, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, to advance to her first grass final.
