Report: Jazz trading Sexton, second-round pick to Hornets for Nurkic

The Utah Jazz will have a new big man in their rotation next season.

Utah is trading guard Collin Sexton and a 2030 second-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets for centre Jusuf Nurkic, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Sunday.

Nurkic, 30, averaged 8.9 points and 7.8 rebounds over 51 games with the Hornets and Phoenix Suns last season.

The Hornets acquired Nurkic and a first-round pick from the Suns at last season’s trade deadline in exchange for forward Cody Martin and guard Vasilije Micic.

Saturday’s trade leaves the Hornets with a lack of size heading into 2025-26, as they also traded centre Mark Williams to the Suns during the first round of the NBA Draft on Wednesday.

They do, however, acquire a dynamic guard in Sexton, who averaged 18.4 points a game for the Jazz last season and is still only 26.
