Steelers Believe 1 WR Is Poised For Breakout Season In 2025

The Pittsburgh Steelers could’ve had one of the most physical wide receiver tandems in the game.

Unfortunately, the D.K. Metcalf-George Pickens pairing was short-lived, as the team traded the latter shortly after acquiring the former.

Now, with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, some are worried about the apparent lack of pass-catching weapons.

However, insider Andrew Fillipponi reports that the Steelers think they may already have a reinforcement.

“Source: The Steelers LOVE Roman Wilson. ‘He looks like a completely different guy.’ They think he’s confident. He added muscle in the offseason. They think he’s poised for a breakout. And adding another WR isn’t a given. Wow,” Fillipponi wrote on X.

Wilson is a speedster, and with a QB of Rodgers’ caliber, he could be in for a breakout season as a deep threat.

No one knows how to make the most of a free play as well as Rodgers, and he’s helped somewhat unknown wideouts post career-best numbers multiple times.

Granted, Rodgers isn’t the player he used to be, and chances are that he will be closer to the guy he was with the New York Jets than to the perennial MVP candidate from his days with the Green Bay Packers.

Having another reliable pass-catching option will only make his life easier, not to mention it will also open up a lot of lanes for Metcalf to do his thing.

The Steelers have several questions on offense ahead of this season, but that might be a blessing in disguise, as Wilson could sneak up on the rest of the league.
