Australia vs West Indies second Test

The West Indies were out of luck when it came to DRS in the first Test against Australia.

Those fortunes changed when Travis Head was dimissed for 29 on day one of the second Test.

Head was shortened up by a brute of delivery from Shamar Joseph and let out a loud gasp when he edged behind to Shai Hope.

Celebrations came from the hosts before Richard Kettlebrough sent it upstairs.

Nitin Menon was this time the man in the TV umpire chair with Adrian Holstock on-field.

Hope’s fingers were judged to be under the ball and Head was given out.

“This is a very good catch from Shai Hope, he had his hands underneath the ball and not only scooping up but landing softly enough with the outstretched hand to cushion the landing … you must cop that as a skilful grab,” Carlos Braithwaite said on ESPN’s coverage.

The wicket was Joseph’s first of the Test and put Australia at 5-110.

A number of controversial calls were the major talking point from the first Test with Hope himself denied from a Head edge in very similar circumstances when he was on 53 on day one of the first Test.

Earlier, Australia’s top order struggled again but showed some signs of slight improvement.

Usman Khawaja was first to go on 16 when he was trapped in front by Alzarri Joseph. Khawaja reviewed but was sent on his way before Sam Konstas followed with 25. When Steve Smith failed with 3, it was 3-50.

Cameron Green scored 26 before he edged to gully before the lunch break.
