MANILA, Philippines—June Mar Fajardo hopes to get some rest before Game 7 of the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals—but another team is calling.

The San Miguel Beer anchor is also expected to join Gilas Pilipinas training on Monday, adding to his already loaded week before Wednesday’s semifinal decider against Ginebra.

“It’s a Game 7 so we need to rest now and prepare ourselves,” said Fajardo after the Beermen fumbled their first chance at booking a ticket to the Finals as the Gin Kings escaped with an 88-87 win on Sunday.

“Sayang ‘tong game. We were already there but we had our lapses.”

Fajardo finished with a familiar double-double—21 points and 16 rebounds—but missed a crucial free throw with 11.1 seconds left that could’ve given the Beermen a bigger cushion.

Now Fajardo has to grind out another game and national team duties coming up in between, rest won’t come easy.

“I’ll go [to Gilas practice]. We can’t do anything about that because that’s needed,” said the Best Player of the Conference frontrunner.

“I’ll really try to rest and forget about the game today. We’ll have a viewing tomorrow before we practice.”

Fajardo looks to lead the Beermen back to the Finals when they face the Gin Kings in a winner-take-all Game 7 on Wednesday at Araneta.
