Mammoth, Jack McBain reach five-year deal to avoid arbitration

The two sides reached an agreement on a five-year contract on Monday, the team announced.

According to Daily Faceoff‘s Frank Seravalli, the new contract is worth $21.25 million with an average annual value of $4.25 million.

The 25-year-old McBain was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the third round of the 2018 draft, but was shipped to Arizona for a second-round pick in March of 2022. He’s collected 82 points (35 goals, 47 assists) in 241 career games.

Last season, the centre had career-highs in goals (13) and points (27) while appearing in all 82 games for the Mammoth.

Utah elected to go to arbitration with McBain earlier on Monday, but were allowed to continue negotiations up until the hearing date.

Arbitration hearings for other restricted free agents will take place between July 20 and Aug. 4.
