Paul George Predicts Next Team For Damian Lillard

The unforgiving nature of the NBA struck again when the Milwaukee Bucks waived Damian Lillard to make room for incoming free agent Myles Turner.

After two underwhelming seasons alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo that produced flashes but no deep playoff runs for Milwaukee, Lillard finds himself searching for a new team.

Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George recently offered his perspective on where Lillard should land, suggesting a destination that could create one of the most intriguing veteran combinations in the league.

“Put him in Houston. … You put him on that team where there is a KD (Kevin Durant), there’s defense around him, there’s length around him. If it’s a smaller guard, pair him with length around him. I think that’s a great fit for him in Houston,” George said, via “Podcast P.”

The Houston Rockets have positioned themselves as a legitimate championship contender following their aggressive offseason moves.

They made headlines by acquiring Durant in a blockbuster trade, and also signed Dorian Finney-Smith and Clint Capela as free agents.

The additions transformed Houston from a playoff team to a title threat, as the foundation was already solid before Durant’s arrival.

Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson, Fred VanVleet, Jabari Smith Jr., Tari Eason and Steven Adams helped the Rockets to 52 wins last season, establishing a culture of winning that Durant can elevate.

Though Lillard must first recover from an Achilles injury suffered during the 2025 NBA Playoffs, Houston represents everything he needs at this stage of his career.

Adding Lillard to the mix would create the type of balanced championship-caliber roster that has eluded him throughout his career while giving Houston another scorer to complement Durant.
