Run for Cover Records has announced a tribute album dedicated to the late Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co. singer-songwriter Jason Molina. It features MJ Lenderman, Sun June, Hand Habits, Advance Base, Friendship, Horse Jumper of Love, Runnner, Another Michael, Teen Suicide, and more. Lenderman’s plaintive rendition of ‘Just Be Simple’ and Sun June’s gorgeous version of ‘Leave the City’ are out now. Take a listen below.

Run For Cover founder Jeff Casazza put the project together with brothers Chris and Ben Swanson, co-founders of Molina’s longtime label, Secretly Canadian. “We had the blessing of people who were very close to Jason,” Casazza said in a press release, “and I knew we could do something really cool with an important body of work.”

I Will Swim to You: A Tribute to Jason Molina arrives on September 5, with a portion of the benefiting the nonprofit MusiCares. The compilation takes its title from a line on Molina’s song ‘Lioness’. Hand Habits’ Meg Duffy, who covered the track, said: “Many try to walk the line between melancholic honesty and poetic affluence and fall short, but Jason Molina’s raw articulate devastation goes unparalleled.”
