The Toronto Blue Jays had a late switch to their starting nine ahead of Friday night’s game against the Athletics.
Outfielder Joey Loperfido was removed from Toronto’s lineup with what Toronto called illness symptoms.
Loperfido was initially slated to bat ninth and play left field.
Myles Straw entered the lineup in Loperfido’s slot and will handle the duties in centre field, sliding Nathan Lukes over to left.
Loperfido has done a nice job of contributing to the Blue Jays since being recalled on July 6. The 26-year-old has gone 5-for-14 with a home run and five RBIs since rejoining the big-league club.
The Blue Jays will look to get back into the win column in their first trip to Sacramento as Max Scherzer squares off against Luis Severino.
You can watch all the action on Friday night at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT on Sportsnet or Sportsnet+.
