In a bit of an odd development, the Seattle Mariners dominated the Detroit Tigers on Saturday for a season-high in runs and hits without much help from slugger Cal Raleigh.
A day after Raleigh crushed two home runs and drove in five, putting him one shy of tying the MLB record for long balls before the All-Star break, he went 0-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. But despite Raleigh’s lack of power, Seattle still put 15 runs on the board and beat Detroit 15-7.
Even without Raleigh contributing for a change, the Mariners sent three balls out of the ballpark as a team.
Luke Raley hit the first home run of the day, connecting on a three-run blast as part of a big five-run third inning. Saturday marked Raley’s third three-RBI game of the season and first since June 23.
