LeBron James Had Telling Comment About Future With Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers have had a somewhat creative offseason thus far as they look to build a more competitive team around LeBron James and Luka Doncic following their first-round sweep at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves in this past postseason.

While that plan sounds great, there have been some puzzling reports and rumors coming out of Lakers camp in regards to LeBron this offseason, as he recently opted into the last year of his contract to remain with the team, yet fans still feel like something is up and he may be angling to push his way out of town.

While taking in the Lakers’ Summer League game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday in Las Vegas, James declined an interview with ESPN, citing that he had nothing to talk about.

It was a smart move by LeBron, since it was obvious where ESPN would have tried to go with the interview by trying to push him into giving insight into his immediate future.

The potential G.O.A.T. has been doing this for far too long to fall into that kind of trap.

Reports have suggested that James hasn’t been made to feel like he is a part of any of the team’s decision-making processes right now and that for the first time in his career, he is having to learn how to deal with the fact that he isn’t the most valuable asset on his team anymore.

The Lakers appear to be prioritizing building around Doncic, which is the right move considering he is 14 years younger than LeBron, but it’s tough to even grasp the idea of a team not being built completely around LeBron.

Usually, where there’s smoke, there’s fire, so keep an eye out for any more reports coming out of Los Angeles.
