The San Francisco 49ers may have helped the league-wide contract standstill come to an end.
According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, they just reached an agreement with second-round DT Alfred Collins.
He will now get $10.3 million over four years, and the deal includes $9 million fully guaranteed.
The next big domino in the second round has fallen: 49ers’ second-round pick Alfred Collins, the No. 43rd overall selection, reached agreement tonight on a four-year, $10.3 million deal that includes over $9 million guaranteed and now is expected to trigger multiple second-round… pic.twitter.com/iiIWgOCh7p

As Schefter points out, he will have 88% of his contract guaranteed, which is a significant jump from the previous players taken at no. 43.
Before him, just two of the 32 second-round picks had signed their rookie contracts.
Per Schefter, this will now lay the blueprint for other contracts, thus triggering multiple other second-round contracts.
Only Cleveland Browns LB Carson Schwesinger and Houston Texans WR Jayden Higgins had signed their deals.
The Texans’ decision to give Higgins a fully guaranteed rookie deal sparked this domino effect.
Last season, Arizona Cardinals CB Max Melton, the previous No. 43 pick, got just $6.93 million guaranteed.
The Niners set a precedent, but they will now have their entire 11-player rookie class ready to report for duty.
They kick off training camp on July 22, but all rookies except for Collins had already reported to camp on Tuesday.
Collins should have a strong role in Robert Saleh’s offense right out of the gate, as the team lost Javon Hargrave and Maliek Collins in the offseason.
He’s entering the league after logging 141 tackles in 64 appearances for the Texas Longhorns.
Now, the ball is in everybody else’s court, and it’s just a matter of time before other second-rounders officially enter the league as well.
