Bradley Beal Reportedly Took Firm Stance During Contract Buyout

After months of speculation and rumors, Bradley Beal is leaving the Phoenix Suns.

Beal’s move to the Los Angeles Clippers wasn’t easy for the Suns, but not because they will miss him.

Instead, it was difficult because of financial issues that Beal didn’t help with.

Writing for ESPN, Brian Windhorst got into the specifics of Beal’s exit.

It is clear that the three-time All-Star didn’t want to support the team in any way.

“The Suns needed Beal to leave at least $13.9 million from his remaining two seasons to make the buyout legal under league rules. The Suns were right up against the maximum 15% of the salary cap allocated to bought-out players and needed Beal’s cooperation. The Suns had hoped to get Beal to leave more money on the table than just the $13.9 million. Talks went back and forth and got heated, sources said. Ultimately, Beal left the least amount possible to make the waiver work, to the penny,” Windhorst wrote.

So ends the experiment featuring Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Beal.

When these three came together, the front office thought they would make the most fearsome big three in the West.

Instead, they were costly, they didn’t deliver, and the Suns actually slipped in the standings.

A lot of blame was placed at Beal’s feet, and he became one of the scapegoats for the team’s failures.

Critics said he didn’t fit and wasn’t playing like he used to.

Yes, his numbers did dwindle a bit in Phoenix, but it wasn’t entirely his fault.

Regardless, it’s obvious that he isn’t very happy about the time he spent with the Suns and wasn’t willing to cut them a break.

Now he is moving on to their Western Conference rivals, and the Suns are hoping to put this painful chapter behind them.
