The New York Giants need a strong season about as badly as any team in the NFL, as this franchise has been floundering for nearly an entire decade while searching for answers every step of the way.
There is hope that 2025 can be substantially better than the disastrous 3-14 season that Giants fans had to endure last year, and a lot of that hope is due to their incredibly talented defensive line.
In an endearing move, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport shared on X that the Giants are taking care of star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence in an effort to further reinforce that aforementioned talented line by adding $3 million in incentives to his current contract, bumping his 2025 salary to $17 million.
Sources: The #Giants have rewarded star DT Dexter Lawrence, adding $3M in incentives to his current deal for 2025. Lawrence is set to make $17M this season, plus the newly negotiated incentives.

There have been instances of teams being stingy with incentives, so it’s always great to see a team take care of one of its guys like this.
Lawrence is arguably the league’s best DT and had an incredible 2024 season despite little else going right within the organization, as he posted nine sacks in 12 games.
Still just 27 years old, Lawrence will be tasked with once again anchoring what should be an improved defense that has a trio of exceptionally skilled pass rushers around Lawrence in Kayvon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns, and 2025 third overall pick Abdul Carter.
If New York is going to turn things around in 2025, it is going to start and end with this pass-rushing unit, which is fitting because the Giants’ two most recent Super Bowl teams were built around teams with historically dominant defensive lines.
Kudos to the Giants for taking care of their best player.
