Knicks Make Changes To Coaching Staff

The New York Knicks reached the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000 and came within two wins of the 2025 NBA Finals.

Despite that success, they decided to part with head coach Tom Thibodeau.

The hiring of Mike Brown was the start of a new chapter, and the Knicks reportedly are in the process of reshaping their staff to reflect his leadership style and strategic approach.

“The New York Knicks won’t retain assistant coaches Othella Harrington, Daniel Brady, Dice Yoshimoto, and assistant video coordinator Nick Thibodeau, nephew of Tom Thibodeau, league sources told Hoops Hype. According to Stefan Bondy, Andy Greer is also not returning next season,” NBA Insider Michael Scotto wrote on X.

These moves signal a clear departure from Tom Thibodeau’s defensive mindset, as Brown brings a philosophy centered on a faster pace and a motion offense.

Reports suggest he plans to bring assistants from his previous jobs with the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors.

Former Kings assistant Riccardo Fois joined the Summer League staff, and sources indicate Brown will continue adding familiar faces.

The playing roster remains virtually unchanged, as Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby will provide the foundation for Brown’s system.

Expectations remain high after last season’s playoff run, and the organization believes Brown’s approach can push the Knicks beyond the conference finals.

Though his track record includes playoff success, Brown faces pressure to deliver immediate results.

The Knicks invested heavily in this roster and expect a championship-level performance.

The franchise hopes the coaching change represents the final piece needed for a title.
