The Buffalo Sabres are putting pen to paper on an extension for one of their draft-day acquisitions.
Defenceman Conor Timmins has agreed to a two-year, $4.4-million deal with the Sabres, the team announced Sunday.
The Sabres acquired the 26-year-old in a deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Day 2 of the NHL Draft on June 28, sending defenceman Connor Clifton and the 39th-overall pick back the other way. Buffalo also acquired defenceman Isaac Belliveau in the trade.
Timmins spent the first half of last season with the Toronto Maple Leafs before being dealt to the Penguins at the trade deadline.
The St. Catharines, Ont., native finished the campaign with three goals and 12 assists in 68 games split between the two clubs.
