Reports: Thomas Muller nearing deal with Whitecaps

The Vancouver Whitecaps are close to adding a big-name talent.

Thomas Müller is nearing an agreement with the Canadian squad, according to multiple reports.

GiveMeSports broadcaster Ben Jacobs was first to report the news.

Müller has spent the entirety of his career with Bayern Munich as one of the best forwards in soccer. The 35-year-old socer 250 goals and added 276 assists in 756 games en route to 13 Bundesliga titles and two Champions League championships.

Vancouver is in the process of aquiring Müller’s discovery rights from FC Cincinnati – a clause in the MLS that gives a team priority to negotiate.

Müller rejected a deal to join FC Cincinnati.

Jacobs added the star forward would join the Whitecaps on an agreement which he is not a Designated Player — a player whose salary or transfer fee exceeds the salary cap — for the rest of 2025, but would be for 2026.
