The New England Patriots have one of the most promising running backs in the NFL.
TreVeyon Henderson was projected to be the second or third back taken in the 2025 NFL Draft, so being able to select him at No. 38 overall must have been a pleasant surprise.
Notably, the Ohio State product also seems to be quite happy about landing with New England and believes he’s a perfect fit for coordinator Josh McDaniels’ offense.
“Coach McDaniels’ biggest thing, he loves to get the playmakers out into space. … I feel like that’s one of the strengths in my game … those 1-on-1 matchups, I’m looking forward to that,” Henderson said, via Carlos A. Lopez.

McDaniels did not fare well in two stints as an NFL head coach, but he’s certainly proven capable of fielding a dynamic offense.
Henderson looks like the type of running back who’s more efficient operating in a committee, and he should be the primary ball carrier over Rhamondre Stevenson.
Stevenson struggled with ball security last season and will now have to earn the new staff’s confidence.
Henderson can be a factor in the passing game as well, and his ability to attack one-on-one matchups makes him a big-play threat.
The running game will be a big part of what head coach Mike Vrabel wants to do, knowing that it will make everything easier for quarterback Drake Maye in his first full season as a starter.
Also, even though the Patriots added plenty of talent at wide receiver this offseason, they need to balance their offense, and that will mean relying on the running game.
