MANILA, Philippines—Quentin Millora-Brown may not be donning a Gilas Pilipinas jersey anytime soon but the 6-foot-10 big man is doing what he can to make that happen.

Millora-Brown, who played for the Macau Black Bears in a tune-up game against Gilas on Monday, shared the development of his eligibility status for the national team.

Surely, he is a no-go in the Fiba Asia Cup, but Millora-Brown’s camp has appealed his eligibility status with Fiba in hopes of making him a local instead of a naturalized player.

“We’re hopeful that the appeal does go through and I’ll be changed from naturalized to local,” revealed QMB following their 103-98 loss to Gilas at Araneta Coliseum.

“There’s an appeal on the works, my lawyers and agents are taking care of that, so I don’t have all the details on that.”

Millora-Brown’s name popped up when Gilas’ preparations for the Fiba Asia Cup started rolling a few weeks back.

However, the State U product was deemed a naturalized player, which halted discussions of him joining coach Tim Cone’s squad.

Still, Millora-Brown revealed that he’s hopeful for the appeal to have a plausible outcome, saying “it would be amazing to be able to [play for Gilas].”

While Gilas is the main reason for his appeal, the UAAP Season 87 champion also revealed he’s not planning to join the PBA Draft next season.

“Right now, with my agent, it doesn’t seem like that’s the best option,” Millora-Brown said, pertaining to the idea of the draft.

“We’re looking at signing contracts in Europe but until this Macau contract is over, I can’t speak about that.”
