The Los Angeles Rams have discovered another potential late-round gem in rookie Konata Mumpfield.
The wide receiver, who was a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has become one of the more intriguing stories emerging from training camp.
His performance has caught attention from coaches and observers alike as he battles for a roster spot.
“A Rams rookie who has been having a quietly consistent camp: WR Konata Mumpfield. He’s showed up again today and impressed in 1-on-1 and team drills so far,” insider Stu Jackson shared on X.

Selected at No. 242 overall, Mumpfield entered camp at the bottom of a deep depth chart that includes Puka Nacua, Davante Adams and Tutu Atwell.
Nacua made a similar leap when he went from a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to a huge contributor in head coach Sean McVay’s offense.
Mumpfield may be following that same trajectory.
Despite running a modest 4.59-second 40-yard dash at his pro day, he has shown that route precision and football intelligence matter more than pure speed.
His college play at Pittsburgh revealed strengths in the intermediate passing game, a skill set that is already translating to the NFL.
With quarterback Matthew Stafford managing his workload during camp, Mumpfield has built chemistry working with backup Jimmy Garoppolo.
The competition for roster spots remains fierce as full-contact sessions approach. However, Mumpfield’s steady improvement suggests he could become the latest example of the Rams finding great value in the later rounds.
