Insider Provides Injury Update On Cam Skattebo

The New York Giants and their fans are hoping for a turnaround after a disastrous season, especially with new high-profile weapons on offense who should provide an impact right away.

Rookie running back Cam Skattebo is in line to handle significant touches, though he unfortunately left a recent practice because of some possible fatigue from his first NFL training camp.

“Skattebo clearly banged up after Monday’s heavy workload,” insider Pat Leonard wrote on X.

It doesn’t sound like it’s anything major that will hamper Skattebo’s availability going forward.

Skattebo ran for 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns and added another 605 receiving yards and three touchdowns for Arizona State last season, helping it reach the College Football Playoff.

He was a true workhorse and handled 338 touches in 13 games, so there’s likely no question about whether or not he can handle high volume.

The question is how well his athleticism will translate, as he tested fairly slow at the NFL Scouting Combine, though he did show explosiveness in the broad jump and agility drills.

He is slated to share the Giants’ backfield with Devon Singletary and Tyrone Tracy, but it’s likely one of the three backs will emerge into more of a featured role at some point.

Hopefully, Skattebo is back on the field soon and there’s no cause for concern.
