The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Monday that Nylander was named this year’s recipient of the GuldPucken award, an award handed annually to the top Swedish player.
It is voted on by The Swedish Ice Hockey Associated and the Expressen.
Nylander is a top contributor to the Maple Leafs, playing all 82 games last season while recording 84 points (45 goals, 39 assists). The Swedish native logged an average ice time of 19:31 seconds per game and recorded a plus-10 in the regular season.
The six-foot right winger has also excelled in the post-season with 67 points over the past 10 seasons including 15 this past spring.
The Maple Leafs selected Nylander as their first pick (8th overall) in the 2014 NHL Draft.
This is Nylander’s first time receiving the honour. Panthers defenceman Gustav Forsling won the award last season.
